Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Childs of Statesboro are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Amanda Hope Childs, to Daniel Albert Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joey Smith of Sharpsburg, Ga.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. Clint Gory and the late Mrs. Frances Gory of Macon and Ms. Bettye Childs and the late Mr. Burton Brown Childs of Statesboro. Miss Childs graduated from Statesboro High School in 2004 and received a B.B.A. in Marketing from the University of West Georgia in August of 2008.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Smith of Sharpsburg, Ms. Jewell Young of Newnan and Mr. John J. Young of Delhi, La. He graduated from Flint River Academy in 2003 and received an Associate’s degree in Agricultural Engineering Technology from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton. Mr. Smith is currently employed in sales at Carl E. Smith & Sons Building Materials, Inc., in Turin, Ga.
    Amanda and Daniel will be married on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Robbins Nest in Statesboro. A reception will follow.
