Katherine Wright David and Charles McDonald Mendenall were united in marriage at 4:00 in the afternoon on Saturday, August 25, 2007. The double ring ceremony was performed by Dr. Richard Steeg at Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park, Wyo.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thomas David of Statesboro. The groom is the son of Kathryn Hardy Mendenhall and Charles Millard Mendenhall Jr. of High Point, N.C.
Music was provided by Snake River Strings. Mary Catherine Mendenhall, sister-in-law of the groom, was the soloist. Jackson friends, Karyn Grace Humphreys and Nichole Susan Schaaf, greeted guests with the wedding programs. Meghan Elaine Sehnal of Kahei, Hawaii, was the reader. The backdrop for the outdoor service included The Grand Tetons and Jackson Lake.
The bride’s A-line gown was strapless with a semi sweetheart neckline. The gown was made of a luxurious silk satin fabric that featured couture tucks in front and back. The back of the gown fell gracefully into a chapel-length train. At the waist was a sash of double faced Adriatic blue satin ribbon, which was adorned with a pearl and crystal broach. The veil was diamond white in color and trimmed in silk satin. The bride carried a simple bouquet of white calla lilies.
Bridesmaids’ dresses were made of Dupioni silk that matched the bride’s sash.
Mary Eleanore David of Athens, Ga., sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Rebecca Hall Blumenthal of Statesboro, Virginia Hollingsworth Fleming of Austin, Texas, Brandi Lynn Fender of St. Simons Island, Elizabeth Ware Herrington, Melissa Ann Hoffman, Brooke Peebles Johnson and Christine Elizabeth Levering, all of Atlanta.
Charles Millard Mendenhall Jr., father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen included the groom’s brothers, Brian Hardy Mendenhall of North Wilkesboro, N.C., and Bradford Riede Mendenhall of Fountain Hills, Ariz. Other groomsmen were all childhood friends and included James Jeffery Comer and Jonathan Huckabee Holbrook of High Point, N.C., David Joshua Brewer of Washington, D.C., Adam David Garry of Candler, N.C., and Ryan Gene Jordan of Tulsa, Okla.
Immediately following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted cocktails on the Veranda, where guests enjoyed beautiful afternoon and sunset views of The Grand Tetons. A reception and dance were then held in the Explorers Ballroom of Jackson Lake Lodge.
On the eve of the wedding, the wedding party and all out of town guests were hosted by the groom’s parents at Diamond Cross Ranch. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while being entertained by a local Western band. Afterwards, there was a demonstration by a horse whisper, followed by dinner, then S’mores and storytelling around a campfire.
In November, the couple honeymooned in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands, and they continue to reside in Jackson, Wyo.
