    Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Houston of Statesboro, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Dana Sharnease Houston of Statesboro, to Desmund Jerrod Thorpe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Thorpe of Brunswick, Ga.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mattie Mae Lovett-Lewis and the late Woodard Hooks Lewis Sr. of Statesboro and  is also the granddaughter of the late Ruthie Mae Houston. Dana is a 1997 graduate of Statesboro High School and a graduate of Armstrong Atlantic State University with a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science. She is employed with Bulloch Counseling Center of Statesboro.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Mary B. Thorpe and the late Marshall Thorpe Sr. of Eulonia, Ga. Desmund is a graduate of McIntosh County Academy and is a graduate of Armstrong Atlantic State University with a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology. He is employed with AT&T of Jacksonville, Fla.
    The wedding ceremony will be held Saturday, May 16th, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Snella’s Chapel, 17 Allen Circle, in Statesboro.
    No local invitations are being sent. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.
