Mr. and Mrs. Ashok and Alka Desai of Greenwood, S.C., announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachana of Greenwood, S.C., to Daniel Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jon and Mickey Martin of Statesboro.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Dhirubhai and the late Taraben Desai of Bombay, India, and Mrs. Manuben Desai and the late Bharatbhai Desai of Greenwood, S.C. Rachana graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2001 and from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2005. She is employed by the U.S. Senate.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mary Ellen Connor and the late Joseph Connor of Barnwell, S.C., and the late Lawrence and Charlotte Martin of Rumson, N.J. Dan is a 1998 graduate of Statesboro High School and is a 2002 graduate of Berry College in Rome, Ga. He is employed as a policy advocate with the International Center for Research on Women in Washington, D.C.
    The couple plans to wed on April 10, 2010, at noon in Greenville, S.C.
