Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Smith of Statesboro, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Abigail Ruth Smith of Atlanta, Ga., to Blake Allen Eckles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Coleman Eckles of Statesboro.
The bride–elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ruth Sell Smith of Statesboro, Ga., and the late Mr. Carl Richard Smith. She is also the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred B. Darley Sr. of Statesboro, Ga. Abby is a 2006 graduate of Statesboro High School She graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2010, with a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and from Duke University, with a Master's in Engineering Management in 2011. She is employed by the Jacobson Companies in Atlanta, Ga. Abby is an alumnus of the Zeta Omicron Chapter of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Allen and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin C. Eckles Sr., all of Statesboro. Blake is a 2006 graduate of Statesboro High School. He graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2011, with a B.S. in Construction Management and a minor in Business. He is employed by Y-Delta, Inc. in Statesboro. Blake is an alumnus of the Eta Zeta Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
The couple has planned to wed on October 20, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Statesboro.
