Two people were arrested after officers were called to the theft of a vehicle in progress early Tuesday, and it led them on a brief chase, Statesboro police said. At 1:50 a.m., an employee of Pope Construction called 911 and reported that his pickup truck had just been stolen from the business property, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said in a news release issued Tuesday. Officers immediately responded to the area and saw the pickup truck traveling away from the scene.
