Bank of America will host a free event this week in Savannah to help homeowners who are struggling to keep up with their mortgage payments.
    Homeowners can make appointments to meet with a Bank of America specialist and discuss their current situation and loan assistance options. Representatives of nonprofit organizations and housing counselors will also be on hand to help with financial counseling, budgeting and related issues.
    The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at the Savannah Trade and Convention Center, 1 International Drive. Appointments are available from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day. Customers should bring their housing documents and proof of income and residency.
