Statesboro Police arrested five men Saturday they said are responsible for a rash of burglaries in the area.
"The Statesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division has been investigating numerous burglaries in the Cambridge Apartments," said CID Division Commander Capt. L. C. Williams.
Detectives Terry Briley and Kelphie Lundy, assisted by uniformed officers, set up surveillance around the apartments and obtained evidence that led to the arrests of five suspects; Christopher Burdine Myers, 22; Kenneth Taylor Ray, 20; Kevin Joseph Andronaco, 22; Joshua Daniel Maynard, 20; and Charles Courtlan Whiten, 22, all of Statesboro, he said.
All were charged with "numerous counts of burglary," Williams said.
Several apartments were involved in the rash of burglaries, he said. Detectives recovered "an undetermined amount of stolen merchandise ... that was taken in several prior burglaries."
The case remains under investigation, and Williams asks that anyone with information regarding these or any other burglary incidents please contact Briley or Lundy at 489-8217 or 764-9911.
