The City of Statesboro announced Monday the return of the Downtown Live Concert Series for 2024 — doubling the number of concerts over 2023 from four to eight and running from April through September.

Like last year, the free concerts will be held on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. on East Main Street, in front of the Bulloch County Courthouse. Thousands of area residents came out

Downtown Live will kick off Thursday, April 18 with The Tams. The Atlanta-based group opened the inaugural Downtown Live Series, coming to Statesboro last June. Performing for audiences for more than 50 years, The Tams are known for their 60s and 70s chart-topping hits, including "Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy" and "What Kind of Fool." Their blend of beach music and smooth soul appeals to people of all ages.

On May 2, Papa Sol will entertain the crowds on the courthouse lawn with a musical fusion that blends funk, reggae, country, blues, rock and roll, jazz and country music. With so many genres covered by the seven-member band, the music is sure to entertain a variety of attendees.

Liquid Pleasure has brought audiences to their feet for over five decades. With crowd-pleasing covers of modern groups like The Black Eyed Peas and Outkast to Motown staples like The Temptations and The Supremes, there's a little something for everyone to enjoy. They will return May 30 for the second year in a row to the Downtown Live Concert Series.

On June 13, The Dukes of Country will take the stage to bring their mixture of country music from past decades. The band transforms into characters from the time period and perform 70s, 80s, & 90s country hits.

The Swingin' Medallions will take the stage on June 27 with their signature high-energy beach music style. A southern tradition since 1962, the band was made famous by their hit album "Double Shot of My Baby's Love" in 1966. They have been rocking and shagging ever since, adding some new members along the way.

The Maxx Band comes to Statesboro July 11. The seven-member group performs classic oldies along with hot songs from today's pop music. Their energetic sound and choreography will be a

great addition to the concert series.

August 8 brings The Fantasy Band to the stage. Known as "The Carolina's Most Entertaining Party Band,", the group will perform a variety of beach music, Motown, funk, soul and smooth R&B. They have been performing together for more than 20 years.

The Downtown Live Concert Series will close out the 2024 season on Sept. 12 with local country artist, Cole Goodwin. Voted Savannah's Best Country Artist in 2023, Goodwin has become a well-known artist in the low country.

Folks are invited to grab their dancing shoes and lawn chairs and join the fun in Downtown Statesboro this summer. Admission is free and food trucks and beverage vendors will open at 5 p.m. on the day of each concert, along with several downtown restaurants within walking distance of the concert stage.
