Citizens interested in the Ogeechee River will have the opportunity to engage in a public hearing June 12 regarding a draft permit for discharge of wastewater into the river.The hearing will allow citizens to comment on a draft of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit # GA 003280 for King America Finishing, Inc., according to Environmental Protection Division spokesman Kevin Chambers.It will be held at 7 p.m. June 12 at Effingham County High School. The hearing will be confined to water quality issues only, as they relate to the draft permit, he said. No consideration will be given to land use, zoning or other issues.Those who wish to comment must sign in before the hearing, and comments will be limited to three minutes each so as to allow everyone to speak who wishes to do so.
