A Bulloch County Jail inmate was found dead in his cell after hanging himself early Friday morning, according to a press release from Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Vernon Keenan. Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 12:15 a.m., Harry Almstead, 39, was found hanging in his cell by jail staff of the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office while conducting a scheduled security and well-being check. First aid was performed and EMS responded for medical treatment, but Almstead was pronounced dead at the scene.
