A number of house fires in Bulloch County recently drive the point home that cold weather brings about a rise in the number of fires due to increased heating, holiday decorations and burning candles. K. Lynn Bowen-Williams, Executive Director of the Bulloch Chapter American Red Cross, warns citizens to be careful when using space heaters, Christmas lights and other sources of electricity or fire. "The holiday season has arrived, the temperatures have begun to drop, and home fires are on the rapidly increasing rise again," she said.
