The Republican field for Georgia’s U.S. Senate seat up for election in 2026 may be wide open after the man considered the leading candidate chose not to run. Gov. Brian Kemp, whose term in office ends in 2026, posted on his X account that he is declining to run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Democrat Jon Ossoff.
