Statesboro police are seeking a Lithonia man they say is "armed and dangerous" in connection to a homicide early Friday morning at Statesboro's Baymont Inn & Suites.
Around 6 a.m., Statesboro resident Jeffrey Lee Raymond, 34, was reportedly shot on the fourth floor of the hotel and made his way to the lobby, said Madison Warren, Statesboro police community information specialist.
Police are seeking the whereabouts of Tai-ri Darnell Crocker, 33, of Lithia Springs, Georgia. Warrants for his arrest on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon were issued Friday, and further charges are possible, she said.
"We encourage Crocker to turn himself in to the nearest law enforcement agency immediately," she said.
Raymond, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was rushed from the scene by Bulloch County EMS to East Georgia Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to the injuries sustained in the incident.
Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch said Raymond's body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Savannah and is scheduled for an autopsy on Monday.
If anyone knows Crocker's whereabouts, they are asked to contact police.
"If you believe you have seen the suspect out in public, please contact us or the nearest law enforcement agency or call 911 immediately," Warren said. "Do not try to make contact with this subject yourself; he is considered armed and dangerous."
