Former Metter police chief Mack Seckinger will have an opportunity to appeal his recent termination before the city council, Metter City Manager Mandy Cody said Tuesday. Cody notified Seckinger Friday that his services as police chief were no longer needed, that he was “relieved of duty,” she said. Technically, however, city statutes say Seckinger will remain employed by the city for two weeks following his termination, and will be able to appeal the decision to the Metter City Council, which meets next on Monday, Nov. 13, at 5:30 p.m. at Metter City Hall on Roundtree Street .Seckinger was not immediately available for comment Tuesday.
