A man police said sold a stolen textbook to a local bookstore was caught after the victim identified the book while seeking a replacement.Shareef Kashun Hardemon, 18, of Chandler Road, was charged with first-degree burglary after the victim went to replace the stolen textbook and recognized personal notes he had written inside the book he was about to purchase, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said Friday.Police met with the victim Oct. 10 at The Cove at Southern, where the victims said textbooks and electronics were stolen. Detective Ben Purvis began investigating.When one of the victims found his textbook in a local bookstore, he “discovered it was the same book that was reported stolen during the burglary,” Turner said. “The book was identified by notes that the victim had made inside the book.”Evidence led to identifying Hardemon, and an arrest warrant was issued for him Wednesday.
