An elderly woman died Sunday in a house fire on Lane Street in Brooklet, said Bulloch County Public Safety Director Ted Wynn. Francis McElveen, 85, Lane Street, died in the blaze that consumed the house, said Bulloch County Deputy Coroner Chuck Francis. Wynn said Brooklet Police officers were first to arrive at the scene around noon Sunday, but the fire was so hot, and the structure so involved, they could not enter.
