CULLOWHEE, N.C. — A  16-2 run to start the second half proved to be too much for The Georgia Southern Lady Eagles to overcome in a 55-46 loss to the Western Carolina Catamounts in a Southern Conference women's basketball game Saturday.
Samantha Williams led the Lady Eagles with 11 points in 19 minutes, and Meredyth Frye added nine points in 36 minutes. Nine players scored as the Lady Eagles connected on 15 of 47 field goals. Turnovers and offensive rebounding eventually doomed GSU. Seventeen turnovers and 17 offensive boards led to 26 WCU points. The Catamounts held a 43-34 edge over Georgia Southern for the game.
The Lady Eagles will close out the 2012 regular season at 7 p.m. Monday at Furman.
