MILLEN — Jenkins County shot 9 of 12 from the charity stripe in overtime to escape the Portal Panthers, 80-75, Tuesday in region play.
Portal (9-3, 1-1 Region 3A-A) had to go the length of the floor in 3.8 seconds at the end of regulation for an attempt at a game-winning shot in regulation, and narrowly missed a buzzer beater.
Jenkins County's Jeremiah Joiner led all scorers with 22 points.
Corey Reese led Portal with 18 points. Stacy Morgan added 15 and Robert Lee scored 12 for the Panthers.
Justin Ellis and Zavondric Shingleton added 18 points each for Jenkins, and Daniel Langston added 14.
Portal returns home to face Savannah Christian Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Lady Panthers fall to JCHS
MILLEN — Portal had a late, 40-38 lead over Jenkins County, but the Lady War Eagles closed out the game on an 8-1 run and beat the Lady Panthers, 46-41, on Tuesday.
Portal (6-5, 0-2 Region 3A-A) was led by Mary Lane, who scored 12 points.
Chandelier Morgan added 10.
Portal returns to region action Friday at home against Savannah Christian at 6 p.m.
Lady Tigers win 7th straight
SAVANNAH — The Claxton Lady Tigers (9-4, 2-0 Region 3A-A) won, 39-33, Tuesday on the road at Savannah Country Day, extending their winning streak to seven games.
Jazmine Price led the score sheet with 16 points and Brianna VanDeursen grabbed 12 rebounds while adding seven points.
Claxton will host Calvary Day in region play on Friday at 6 p.m.
Claxton wins a battle at SCDS
SAVANNAH — The Claxton Tigers got fouled time and again by Savannah Country Day on Friday, but hit 17 of 24 free-throw attempts in a long fourth quarter as they held on to win, 70-63, and grab their first region win of the season.
The Tigers (9-4, 1-1 Region 3A-A) led 47-34 after three quarters, and Country Day (5-8, 0-2) used fouling and frequent substitutions to out-score Claxton, 26-23, in the fourth.
Cornelius Taylor had a monster night for Claxton, scoring
a game-high 34 points.
Darvis Small and Trey Hines each scored 10 points for the Tigers.
Claxton will host Calvary Day Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Jackets fall to Savannah
SAVANNAH — Southeast Bulloch lost to Savannah High, 74-46, in region action on the road Tuesday.
The Yellow Jackets (5-7, 4-3 Region 1B-AAA) were led in scoring by Kaelin Jones, who finished with14 points.
SEB returns to action Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Beach.
SBCPRD youth basketball scores
In the Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department Midget Boys league, the Bulls beat the Heat 18-17. The Warriors won against the Thunder 22-15.
In the Minor league, the Thunder beat the Spurs 34-18.
The Nets won against the Pacers 19-8. The Bulls forfeited against the Knicks. The Lakers beat the 76ers 19-14 while the Mavs beat the Heat 34-14. The Rockets won against the Magic with a score to 15-11.

SEB accepting HoF nominations
BROOKLET — The Southeast Bulloch High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee will be accepting Hall of Fame nomination forms until Feb. 15.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from school’s website at http://sbhs.bulloch.k12.ga.us or picked up from offices at Southeast High School and Middle school.
The Hall of Fame banquet will take place on Saturday, April 27, at 7 p.m., in the SEB High School cafeteria.
