LOCUST GROVE — The Statesboro girls put up a fight, but came up just short, losing 3-2 to Locust Grove Tuesday in the second round of the Class AAAA state playoffs. The Lady Blue Devils took the lead on a goal by Tori Thompson 22 minutes into the game. Statesboro held the advantage into halftime, but the Wildcats eventually prevailed.
