PORTAL — Despite another strong defensive effort, the Portal Panthers continue to search for their first win of the 2013 season as they fell 14-0 to the Tattnall County Battle Creek Warriors Friday at the Portal Athletic Complex. After an inauspicious beginning that saw Tattnall County take the opening kickoff 70 yards on 14 plays that was capped off by a 16-yard touchdown run by quarterback Nate Smith, the Panthers (0-1-1) defense only allowed 27 more yards for the rest of the night. “They’re a good offense and we were able to stop them for most of the night,” Panthers head coach David Nesmith said.
